“Winter Madness” House Concert Series
We are beginning the 6th year of our concert series and what a fun time Jerri and I have been having finding great music and unique entertainers to present to you. This year traveled from across Texas to Key West through Nashville, north to Vermont and then onto Aspen to find more great music!! So shake off the cold winter blues with a toasty afternoon of warmth and comradery while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and great entertainment!! Relax and be warmed by our fireplace, classic red wines, and snack on a delicious appetizer spread.
Last year we tried a new concert format we call Winter Madness House Concert. We were overwhelmed by your support and positive comments. So again we have put together some unique acts that work better inside. The concert format is designed around a Sunday afternoon picnic with family and friends. We will provide family table seating in the concert room to enhance the intimacy of the evening. We will also be providing appetizers and a dessert. If you would like, you can bring your own picnic dinner. The evening starts at 4:00 with appetizers and a meet-and-greet with the entertainers and friends. The entertainment begins at 4:30 with a break at 5:30 for picnic time and dessert. The entertainment will then resume at 6:00 and end around 7:00. Seating will be limited to 60 people and will require a reservation. The tickets for these events are $27 for our wine club members and $30 for non club members. The ticket includes reserved seating, appetizers and dessert. To purchase tickets, call 936.894.9829. The first concert is scheduled for January 15. You can find more detail about all of the events in the sidebar at right.
Bernhardt Winery Valentine Wine Release
On Friday, February 10, just in time for Valentine’s Day, we will be releasing one of our rarest of wines, “Valentine”. This wine derives its name from the unusual glowing Valentine red color, and is made from a rare grape varietal that is very sensitive to air quality. It can only be grown in the purest of environments, and we are very fortunate to have access to a few gallons of this rare nectar. As you raise a glass, you are instantly greeted by the unusual nose of cotton candy. This nose triggers happy memories and relaxes your senses before you indulge your pallet. The cotton candy nose gives way to an initial pallet impression of the old time candied apples finally melting away to a sweet and tart finish like mom’s homemade cherry pie. This wine is so unusual that I describe it as a happy wine. Our customers that have tried it wait all year for this special release. We only have 100 cases, so don’t be left out!
Vineyard Pruning and Planting 101
February 18 and 25 (Saturdays) — Everything you always wanted to know about planting and growing grape vines. This will be a very unique opportunity because the Bernhardt’s are expanding their vineyard and participants will actually have the chance to help plant the new vines. This is a hands-on seminar that includes classroom instruction and actual in the vineyard pruning and planting. Jerry Bernhardt, owner of Bernhardt Winery will be conducting the seminar. A very special guest, Mr. Ron Saikowski will also be assisting with the instruction. Mr. Saikowski is an award-winning wine journalist that publishes weekly in the Houston Community News papers in the “Here” section and in The Courier on Fridays in “The Ticket” section. He also publishes in the People Scene and The Lake Conroe Splash. Mr. Saikowski is well versed in wine making, tasting and vineyard production.
The morning begins at 9:00 am SHARP in the winery events room with coffee, fruit paired with a presentation on growing and pruning vines. Jerry will teach you how to root your own vines as well as how to plant vines in the vineyard. At 10:30, the group moves outside to actually practice pruning vines in the Bernhardt Vineyard. Participants are welcome to take cuttings home for planting in their own vineyard! After pruning, everyone will gather inside the winery for lunch and wine tasting. Lunch will be a spinach and strawberry salad, chicken salad on croissant, pickled asparagus and chocolate truffle cake served with our award-winning Port. After lunch, the group will return to the vineyard to actually plant the new vines. Your Saturday will end around 3:30, but the Tasting Room will be open until 6 pm for your tasting pleasure. The cost of the seminar with Continental Breakfast and Lunch is $30 with seating limited to the first 30 paid participants. Please call the winery at 936.520.8684 or 936.894.9829 to establish your Reservation!.

The Loft Bed & Breakfast at Bernhardt Winery
Well, it only took us three and a half years to open our B&B, and it has been a blessing in the last year and a half since it opened. Jerri and I named it “The Loft” because it is truly a huge loft above the old winery, and secondly because Jerri and I are more afternoon, hors d’oeuvres, sunset wine-toasting folks and would prefer spending quality time with our guests at that time. » more info

Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail
Growing up and living in the north Houston area, I was always jealous of the Hill Country and all their wineries and wine trail events. As I was learning the commercial aspect of this business and building our winery, I had visions of having a wine trail here in our beautiful part of Texas. Well now we all have one. Ten local wineries located between Conroe and Bryan/College Station have formed the Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail!! Please visit our website at: texasbluebonnetwinetrail.com.
