Winter Christmas Luminary Party Winter Madness Concert Series

Winter Christmas Luminary Party

Well folks it has finally rained!! We have been under a burn ban and worried we would not be able to host this annual event, but alas, glorious rain! So the Luminary Event is on!! This will be our fifth year to celebrate Christmas and the winter solstice with a winter wonderland luminary event on Sunday, December 18 from 4:00 till 9:00. At 4:00, we will put out 1,000 luminaries lining the drive and vineyard. You are all invited to help with this task if you would like to really get involved. We will of course, toast the sun (5:15 pm) as it sets in its most southern position and read a most appropriate poem. After the toast, there will be hay rides through the luminaries singing Christmas carols. After the hay rides, we will gather by the camp fire and sing Christmas carols along with our favorite campfire songs. I have invited, Mike Gallo, Conrad Olson and John and Maureen of Silvershoes to come join us. The winery will be open for purchasing wine by the glass or bottle. A hardy dinner of “Chuck Wagon” food, (chili and beef stew) will be available for purchase. Bring your lawn chairs and come relax with us. If the weather is bad, we’ll gather inside! This will be a very informal event like a family open house. There will be an assortment of Christmas treats and you are invited to bring your favorite Christmas party treats if you would like to participate. There will be a $7.00 cover charge for adults and $3.00 for children 6 and older.

Winter Madness Concert Series

“Winter Madness” House Concert Series

We are beginning the 6th year of our concert series and what a fun time Jerri and I have been having finding great music and unique entertainers to present to you. This year traveled from across Texas to Key West through Nashville, north to Vermont and then onto Aspen to find more great music!! So shake off the cold winter blues with a toasty afternoon of warmth and comradery while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and great entertainment!! Relax and be warmed by our fireplace, classic red wines, and snack on a delicious appetizer spread.

Last year we tried a new concert format we call Winter Madness House Concert. We were overwhelmed by your support and positive comments. So again we have put together some unique acts that work better inside. The concert format is designed around a Sunday afternoon picnic with family and friends. We will provide family table seating in the concert room to enhance the intimacy of the evening. We will also be providing appetizers and a dessert. If you would like, you can bring your own picnic dinner. The evening starts at 4:00 with appetizers and a meet-and-greet with the entertainers and friends. The entertainment begins at 4:30 with a break at 5:30 for picnic time and dessert. The entertainment will then resume at 6:00 and end around 7:00. Seating will be limited to 60 people and will require a reservation. The tickets for these events are $27 for our wine club members and $30 for non club members. The ticket includes reserved seating, appetizers and dessert. To purchase tickets, call 936.894.9829. The first concert is scheduled for January 15. You can find more detail about all of the events in the sidebar at right.

Bernhardt Winery Valentine Wine Release

Bernhardt Winery Valentine Wine Release

On Friday, February 10, just in time for Valentine’s Day, we will be releasing one of our rarest of wines, “Valentine”. This wine derives its name from the unusual glowing Valentine red color, and is made from a rare grape varietal that is very sensitive to air quality. It can only be grown in the purest of environments, and we are very fortunate to have access to a few gallons of this rare nectar. As you raise a glass, you are instantly greeted by the unusual nose of cotton candy. This nose triggers happy memories and relaxes your senses before you indulge your pallet. The cotton candy nose gives way to an initial pallet impression of the old time candied apples finally melting away to a sweet and tart finish like mom’s homemade cherry pie. This wine is so unusual that I describe it as a happy wine. Our customers that have tried it wait all year for this special release. We only have 100 cases, so don’t be left out!

Texas Bluebonnet Wine TrailTexas Bluebonnet Wine Trail

Growing up and living in the north Houston area, I was always jealous of the Hill Country and all their wineries and wine trail events. As I was learning the commercial aspect of this business and building our winery, I had visions of having a wine trail here in our beautiful part of Texas. Well now we all have one. Ten local wineries located between Conroe and Bryan/College Station have formed the Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail!! Please visit our website at: texasbluebonnetwinetrail.com.

WINTER MADNESS CONCERTS BEGIN JANUARY 15 - JOIN US!

January 15: Rick Schuler Sings the songs of John Denver

This summer my son and my Brother Barre and I traveled to Aspen to do some fly fishing and to check out the music scene. We found a fellow, Rick Schuler, an amazing man that sings the songs of John Denver. He performs a John Denver tribute that you will not believe. We will laugh and cry and most of all sing-along !! Call early as this will sell out soon. Check him out by a Google search of: Rick Schuler John Denver Music.

January 29: Kevin Black

Kevin Black has been playing here at the winery now for five years and every time it is like his first. His music and his story telling are so fresh and exciting. You just leave happy knowing you were entertained by one of the greats. You never know who is going to show up and play with him, or how long he is going to play. We just know it’s going to be fun!! Kevin recently released his newest CD recorded live at Dose Doe and is again back in the creative mode writing new music and stories to share. Kevin has promised to sing some of our favorite sing-along songs and Jerry plans to sit in with him and really mess it all up! Check Kevin out at kevinblack.com.

February 12: Valentine, Wine, Kisses and Chocolate

Surprise your sweetheart a day early with an incredible once in a lifetime concert. This will be one of the most unusual musical events of the year. We have put together a musical duo of two incredible musicians classically trained on string instruments that will be performing music that spans over a period of 300 years! We have invited a duo of acoustical greats, Tom Tranchilla and Buddy Allen. To make this night even more special, we will provide all the women with a long stem rose. We will be serving heavy appetizers and an elegant chocolate dessert sure to impress.

February 26: 2-Bit Palomino

Back by popular demand! This group lit up the stage this past October and everyone asked us to get them back soon. Their amazing harmonies will be incredible in the intimate setting of our inside stage and events room. 2-Bit Palomino was awarded Vocal Group of the Year by the Academy of Texas Music 2011 Texas Music Awards! They are a thoroughbred musical powerhouse consisting of some fine Texas singer/ songwriters. Bill Ward, Pete Renfree and Andi Renfree make up this awesome trio of dedicated singer/songwriters who, in just a short time, have the the rarely found combination of musical style, vocal blending, harmony and songwriting! Check them out at www.2bitpalomino.com.

March 11: Lewis Lamb Motown Experience

Back by popular demand, this group had everyone on their feet at their first appearance here this past June. We have found Motown! Louis Lamb and the band bring back to life the Four Tops, The Four Seasons, and all the great DooWap and Motown music of the 60’s. We have been looking for this type of music since we began our series. You will love this group! Check them out by Google Search.

March 25: Monica Perry,  Fiddle versus Violin

This is a one-of-a-kind show put together by Monica Perry, just for our winery stage! Monica is one of the top fiddle players in Texas and one of her songs, “The Guitar Playing Man” was recently released by The Marshall Tucker Band.

She has gathered her fiddle playing friends and they will be playing many fiddle classics, swing, and contemporary. There will be fiddle playing, singing, stories and a fiddle versus violin showdown!
